Interior Tuesdays: A Mall of Vendors

I’m back! I feel like I haven’t blogged in ages. We spent all last week in Kentucky with…dun dun duuuun…..NO INTERNET CONNECTION. It was brutal. Actually we kind of forgot about it after the first day or so and had a lovely time.

And I discovered something in Kentucky; a place I’ve never been before. A Vendor’s Mall. It might also be called a Peddler’s Mall, but at the end of the day it’s really just a flea market I guess. But my mother-in-law rents a booth out there and sells a lot of her excess items. Here is her booth:

They don’t give you a lot of space, so it looks kind of crowded, but she’s been selling stuff left and right. I’m so proud of her! I think it’s awesome.

But while I was there I was able to dig around and found some really fun items. One of which I purchased and am waiting for my wonderful sister-in-law to ship to me, since I knew it would put our bags over the 50lb. limit and I don’t have an extra $100 to burn on a heavy bag. Stupid Airlines.

Anyway, here are some pieces that inspired me.

I know. They’re not much as is. But just think of a cool new fabric and the wood painted white and they’d look so uber chic in a retro-meets-modern type of room. Something like this could be fun:

Another furniture item I fell in love with was this buffet:

Ignore all the stuff on top and the unfortunate honey-colored stain and this could be REALLY nice in an entry with some cool lamps on top. I’d probably go for broke and paint this puppy turquoise. Add new pulls and it’d be a whole new statement piece.

Then there were these nesting tables. All three of them for $20. You can’t beat that. The tops were so beautiful and they were in excellent condition. I wanted to buy them for my MIL, but I don’t know if she’d have anywhere to put them. Too bad.

Then there was the beauty I found and bought:

$9! It’s about 12” in diameter to give you a sense of scale. And please ignore the insulation that’s shown in the reflection. Oops. But I’m so excited to call this mirror my own. I have the perfect idea for where I want to put it in my living room. Hurry up and send it Nicole!

And as a parting gift I had to show that not everything in a vendor’s mall is worth drooling over. Such as:

What the??? Is this supposed to be comforting to small children? “Here’s Mamaw and Papaw as angels.” Not cool. Still it made me laugh a lot. And just think, for $9 I could’ve gotten this figurine!

I think I got a better deal on the mirror.

Anyway, I’m happy to be home, glad to have the internet again and now I’m dying to go to some consignment shops here in Utah. I know we have tons of amazing ones, I just never realized how cool they can be.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. If I get that statuette as a birthday present this year I may never speak to you again. Or I may be really really happy and put it on the mantle. In which case Libbie will never speak to you again.
